“Backdrops”
2011
Hand drawn animation
Variable

The video above is from Truffaut's "Day for Night" - one animation in this ongoing series.

Every object, in every scene of a movie has been carefully picked and placed. But once the narratives unfold and the camera angles are determined, the innocent props are forced into complete anonymity. “Backdrops” attempts to repair this long standing injustice by shifting the viewer’s attention and empathy towards these individual objects. This tribute takes the form of a series of hand drawn animations, each reiterating a shot of a film, but only reproducing a particular element of the set to go along with the soundtrack.

Each hand drawn frame is available for sale - allowing the objects to further "hold space" in viewer's homes.
