Film and dance rely on an intricate editing process, wherein disparate spaces, time frames and emotions are made into an irrefutable whole. Tess Dworman (dancer and choreographer) and Anna Pinkas (visual artist) are interested in the discarded pieces of this “trim” – how they can be archived and used in the creative process or even comprise the final piece. Anna followed the rehearsal process for Tess’ new choreography "macromen" from July to November 2013, and organized the footage into a series of short videos. Each one is centered around a specific aspect of the dance rehearsal that is rarely studied or documented: spaces, personal items, warm ups, notes, hands, and laughs.
